As one news commentator recently remarked, "The world is much different today than yesterday". It seems recently, everyday brings a new horror. . . A new terror. . . A new fear.

And. . .

A new enemy has just arrived in town. An enemy that stalks it’s victims in silence, in innocence, ever so quiet and innocent as a typical, but very deadly piece of mail.

The world today shudders in fear of a very new and very, very deadly enemy. The threat of biological terrorism has become a frightening reality. As sporadic cases of Anthrax are spreading across the United States, someone truthfully cried, "our worst nightmare is happening!". What was only the plot of horror movies is now a terrifying reality.

With a deafening roar, frightening headlines are sounding the alarm across the globe:

Yes. Our worst nightmare is a stark reality.

Job could very much be writing of today’s hour:

"For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me."
Job 3:25

In an article titled, "Renewed worry over smallpox threat", MSNBC News writes, "Researchers rush to head off doomsday scenario".

World renown author and cosmologist, Professor Stephen Hawking told The Telegraph, "Although September 11 was horrible, it didn't threaten the survival of the human race. . ." Sounding an alarm, Professor Hawking, also said, "I am more worried about biology. Nuclear weapons need large facilities, but genetic engineering can be done in a small lab. You can't regulate every lab in the world. The danger is that either by accident or design, we create a virus that destroys us."

And professor Hawking, made this alarming prediction., "I don't think the human race will survive the next thousand years, . . ."

Just as the Lord Jesus Christ predicted in Matthew 24. . .

Matthew 24:6-8
6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

The Bible says in the "last days perilous times shall come"

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 Timothy 3:1

And if you’re a Christian, and you have truly trusted the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ — don’t waste two seconds fretting over anthrax, smallpox, biological terrorism, bombs, nuclear threat, — or even death itself.

Our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, calmly told us in John 14:

1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

If you’re a born-again, (see John 3:3) child of God, you can lay your head down tonight in perfect peace and sleep, without one second of worry, just like a trusting new born baby. That trusting baby knows instinctively — there’s nothing to worry about — my parents are taking good care of me and they have everything under control. So just calm down and rest —Our Heavenly Father is taking good care of us and He has everything under complete control.

Jesus Christ said in John 14:27

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Even in the worst of storms, in worst of fears and terror — that peace will NEVER leave. . .

Take Mr. Horatio Spafford. . .

Horatio Spafford was a man acquainted with real pain, heartache and terror..

Horatio Spafford was a wealthy businessman in Chicago during the late 1800’s. And the Chicago Fire of 1871, roared through Chicago with fury and destruction. And when the smoke and ashes cleared . . . Horatio Spafford lost it all. His great wealth. . . . His great dreams. . . His great plans. . . went up in a cloud of smoke with the Chicago Fire. . .

But that was only ". . .the beginning of sorrows. . ." for Horatio. . .

Shortly after the Chicago fire left him in financial ruin, what Job had said, "the thing which I greatly feared", happened to Horatio. His wife and four daughters were crossing the mighty Atlantic when their ship collided with another. Horatio’s wife sent him this simple telegram, "Saved alone". All four of Horatio’s daughters were buried in the deep, dark, depths of the Atlantic.

Truly, if there ever was a man with trouble and sorrow – it was Horatio Spafford.

Several weeks after the terrible tragedy of his daughters untimely death, Horatio was also traveling on a ship when it passed over the spot where his daughters died. Horatio grabbed a pen and began pouring out the thoughts in his broken heart:

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,

That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed His own blood for my soul.

My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!

And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,

Oh, my friend, are you troubled and worried?

Are all the acts of terror, happening around the globe, in a dazzling speed, frightening you?

Are you fearful of tomorrow?

I have wonderful news!

Jesus Christ can give you real peace.

The peace that Jesus Christ promises is not peace ". . .as the world giveth,. . ." but real peace that no matter what the circumstances – His peace is there..

Friend, there is a peace that "passeth ALL understanding"

Philippians 4:7 says:

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

That "peace that passeth all understanding" is only "through Christ Jesus"!

Have you ever trusted the Lord Jesus Christ as your Saviour?

I’m reminded of an event that occurred in the life of Billy Graham. During the Cuban Missile Crisis, Brother Graham was called to the White House as a spiritual advisor. We’ve only found out recently, just how near we were towards nuclear war during the Cuban Missile Crisis. There was panic everywhere in the White House. Congressmen, President Kennedy, and his staff were in a state of terror. They believed their worse fear was happening. The dreaded bomb was only minutes away. In this frightful scene, a Senator glanced over at Billy Graham, and Brother Graham was peacefully calm. The fearful Senator asked him, "How in the world can you be so calm in such a crisis?". And Brother Graham, smiled and simply replied, "I’ve read the last chapter. I already know how everything’s going to turn out".

So my Christian friend, let’s go ahead and let the world have their news day. . . let Professor Hawking cry aloud about the "human race will not survive . . ." let them buy their gas masks, horde up their antibiotics, build their bomb shelters, and stay glued to the news.

I’m just gonna sit back, get comfortable, and watch for Jesus.

After all, like Brother Graham, I’ve read the last chapter. I already know how everything’s going to turn out.

22:1 And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

6 And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to show unto his servants the things which must shortly be done.. …
Revelation 22:1-6

Do you truly know the "peace that passeth understanding", the Apostle Paul was writing about in Philippians 4:7?

Have you ever truly received the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour?

Friend, now is not the time for playing games. Perilous times are here. Events and terrors never seen in the history of mankind are here – today – not tomorrow. They are here. . . now. . .

If you’ve never trusted the Lord Jesus Christ do it this very minute. . .

God made it so simple to be saved.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:16

1. Know you're a sinner.
   

   "As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:" Romans 3:10

   "... for there is no difference. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" Romans 3:23

2. That Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay for your sins.
   

   "Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, ..." 1 Peter 2:24

   "... Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood," Revelation 1:5

3. And the best way you know how, simply trust Him, and Him alone as your personal Savior.
   

   "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

   "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Romans 10:13

Pray this prayer, and mean it with all your heart.

Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and unless you save me I am lost forever. I thank you for dying for me at Calvary. I come to you now, Lord the best way I know how, and ask you to save me. I now receive you as my Savior. In Jesus Christ Name, Amen.
